Happy Easter to you all and I hope you had a wonderful break. We have a busy summer term ahead and are looking forward to everything that it brings!
Firstly, I would like to say how much I enjoyed last term and how hard the children have worked. They have shown huge dedication to their work and have progressed well. They should be very proud of themselves. Secondly, we would like to wish Year 6 the best of luck in their upcoming SATs, we are very proud of you!
This term we will be looking at the question ‘Where have we come from; where are we going?’ This will involve exploring our own identities in art, whilst thinking about maps, coastlines and exploring our local environment in geography. In science, we will be looking at reproduction as well as our own lifestyle, as well as reversible and irreversible changes. In English, we will be looking at different texts, including ‘Where My Wellies Take Me..’ by Clare and Michael Morpurgo, ‘The pebble in my pocket’ by Meredith Hooper and ‘Journey to the River Sea’ by Eva Ibbotson.
Please continue to write in your child’s reading record and encourage your children to read at home. This really supports their understanding in school and it would be great to see as many children as possible engaging with our new reading incentive.
In maths, we will be recapping all of our learning this year, whilst focusing on ratio, algebra, shape, position and direction, statistics and converting units.
In RE, we will be looking at Judaism and asking, ‘What is holiness for Jewish people: a place, a time, an object or something else?’
After half term we will be heading into the forest each week and will be completing different activities, which we are very much looking forward to.
A reminder that our PE day continues to be a Monday afternoon.
If there are any questions, please ask after school.
